Dodge Charger R/T
For the first time, this legend appeared in 1969 and pleased the V8 with a Magnum engine with a volume of 6.1 liters, which produced up to 425 hp. The car accelerated to a hundred, a little more than 6 seconds, and put the maximum speed arrow on the 220 km/h mark. This car was something supernatural, because it was this configuration that cost nothing to start with two pedals, putting the car on the rear wheels. Note that after an extended variation was proposed, there was no Magnum in it, so amateurs nevertheless turned to the 1969 “novelty”.
Ford Mustang BOSS 302
They are the same age as the previous Dodge, but this car did not produce more than 375 hp. At the same time, it could boast of acceleration and maximum speed: up to 100 km in 6.9 seconds and a max of 208 km/h. This car was once created to compete with the Camaro in international races. It is worth mentioning that the “brainchild” did not disappoint its creators, although many argue that the “older” Shelby GT500 was still more successful among the best old-school muscle cars.
Chevrolet Camaro Z-28
It came out a little earlier than its predecessors – in 1967. This company has always opposed the Mustangs, trying to “punish” them with their best muscle classic cars. In the case of the Camaro Z-28, it was really hard for competitors to cover up with something. At that time, the 302nd “engine” V8 with a volume of 4.9 liters squeezed out 290 hp, accelerating to a hundred in 7, 2 seconds and showing a maximum of 205 km/h.
By the way, the Camaro Z-28 had another configuration – the SS, which should have been the best, because it had a more interesting exterior and a powerful engine, which already produced all 325 hp. But here’s the paradox, the first modification took the lead in popularity anyway, which today can be safely called a classic.
Pontiac GTO
Year of manufacture – 1969. The best old muscle car had a V-8 6.5-liter engine and 366 hp. under the hood. It was possible to accelerate to 100 km, already at the end of 6.2 seconds, and a maximum of 196 km/h.
Interestingly, this model itself was produced for 10 years – until 1974, but it was the parameters of the 1969 GTO that became the most popular among users and retained their glory, passing through the decades, and now we can even say centuries.
Ford Torino Cobra 428
Awesome old muscle cars with completely unusual shapes attracted attention both in 1968 when they were first presented to a large public, and now. The 7L 4V engine produced 375 hp. and acceleration to hundreds in 5.7 seconds. But the maximum could be obtained no more than 188 km/h.
The rarest equipment had a powerful motor with a rated power of 250 kW and an actual power of 325 kW. They say that the understatement was done on purpose to reduce the cost of insurance. The car was gluttonous, but manageable enough, which is valuable for a muscle car.
