    Cheap long distance towing

    If you come across this article, then you are looking for a trailer and information related to it. You are lucky, because we will analyze this topic in detail and tell you about all the nuances of towing trailers. Thus, a trailer is a vehicle without an engine that is used to tow loads. They come in different productions, shapes and uses. For example: a trailer for transporting horses, a trailer for transporting motorcycles or cars, a trailer that allows you to transport a boat, canoe, bicycle and caravan for lovers of outdoor recreation and in full contact with nature.

    Basic points you need to know

    You need to be careful, because for cheap long distance car towing there are very specific rules to follow. In this article, we will explain them all so that you avoid unpleasant consequences.

    • Towing a trailer requires relevant experience and a driver’s license category;
    • If you buy a trailer, you need to register it with the appropriate authorities to get a license plate on it;
    • Goods carried in the trailer should be positioned so that there is no movement, overturning, falling or rubbing during the journey. It is also desirable that the load be placed so that heavy objects are as close as possible to the axis (center) of the trailer, and not to the towing hook;
    • The maximum vertical load on the towing hook must never exceed the limit value specified by the manufacturer on the specific plate located on the towing hook itself and must not change the position of the vehicle and the inclination of the headlamp beam;
    • The value of the mass that can be towed by the vehicle is indicated in the registration certificate. This value, called the “towing factor”, is expressed as the ratio between the total mass of the loaded trailer and the total mass of the loaded vehicle. It must not exceed the value: 1: in the case of trailers with a service brake of up to 3.5 tonnes or 0.5: in the case of trailers without any braking device. In practice, with a towing ratio of 1, the weight of the trailer can reach the same level as the vehicle, while at 0.5 it can reach half;
    • On motorways with carriageways that make up three lanes, drivers of transport complexes with a total length of more than 7 meters are prohibited from using lanes other than the two that are considered closest to the right edge of the carriageway;
    • When used, trailers must be insured under the same policy as the car being towed. When they are separate from the car, they must have separate insurance coverage, which relates to static risk (when the vehicle is stationary);
    • If the trailer remains inactive for a long time, it is desirable, if possible, to keep the tires above the ground, using special supports under the frame. If this is not possible, it is advisable to increase the inflation pressure of the tires to avoid deformation.
