How towing car
Towing is a method of transporting vehicles known to every experienced driver, as it may be needed on the road at any time. As you know, the car can stop on the road at the worst times and even a minor malfunction can break the whole car. In this case, you need either a vehicle to recover, or knowledge of proper towing. The driver himself must know how to tow his car. So let’s take a closer look at the features and rules of towing.
What should be considered when towing?
- If the car is towed in the dark, the headlights must be switched on;
- During towing, the hazard warning indicator must be constantly lit on both vehicles;
- The maximum speed should not exceed 50 km/h;
- The tow rope must not exceed 5 m and must be marked with identification ribbons or flags;
- The rope is attached to special eyelets under the front and rear bumpers of cars;
- The rope must remain stretched between the two machines, otherwise it can easily break in the event of an unexpected jerk;
- The towed vehicle shall not be much larger or heavier than the towed vehicle;
- Changes in direction should be indicated by pre-discussed signs;
- It is forbidden to tow a faulty vehicle on motorways;
- It is forbidden to tow an unregistered vehicle.
How tow car? Towing rules. According to traffic rules, the driver of a faulty vehicle does not need a driver’s license when towing. Only a minimum age of 15 is assumed. However, it is recommended that an experienced driver sit behind the towed car. Before towing, drivers should discuss all the details and determine the best possible and safe route, without traffic jams, sharp descents and steep climbs. Turning maneuvers should also be avoided. As towing is a rather complex process, it is recommended that both drivers discuss in advance the signals that may be needed in different situations.

- Always leave the key in the lock so that the steering lock does not lock in place;
- The driver must be very careful and responsible for the actions taken;
- If the rope sags, the vehicle should be stopped, preferably with the handbrake;
- Arriving at a turn also requires extra care on the part of the driver.
How tow cars? Rules for the car performing towing:
- It is not recommended to use the engine brake when towing. The brake pedal should run as little as possible and the gears should be changed as soon as possible;
- If the tow truck plans to slow down or make an emergency stop, the driver of the towed vehicle must be informed of the stop signal or hand signal, or by means of a mobile phone used through the vehicle’s hands-free system;
- In every possible maneuver, the driver must drive with the maximum possible radius.
