When you buy a new car, all you need to pay attention to is the price and characteristics of the car that the manufacturer offers. But not everyone has enough to buy a dream even with the “plant flavors”, so often you have to be content with buying used cars. There are many pitfalls in such a purchase. What do do when buy car?
Collect information
Ask the seller about the intricacies of operating the car: how much it has driven and where it was used most often, whether it was in an accident and what major breakdowns happened, how often consumables and fluids were replaced. It is not a fact that you will receive an honest answer, but some information can be gleaned from thematic portals, which, for little money, are ready to issue a certificate on a given car, which will reflect both accidents and sales. Of course, if a car has been sold for the third time in the past six months, then this will not say anything good.
Look around externally
What all do need buy car? The first thing that can be noted is painting and straightening. To do this, you just need to inspect the car and literally feel out every scratch or place where the paintwork will seem somewhat different to the general background. Firstly, it will help you understand how high the likelihood of rye formation on the case is, and secondly, it will give information for thought to the seller that, having noted your savvy, there will be less resistance in the bidding.
Move away from the car – 2-3 meters, sit down and fix your gaze at the level of the lanterns. If there is undulation on the doors or in the fenders, the car has probably been in a major accident. And if all this reinforces the unevenness of the roof, then you should safely refuse the purchase – the body balance is severely damaged. Also, the skew of the wheels when compared to the sides of the rear and front indicates a strong impact on the car in the past.
Interesting to know! Together with the magnet, you can easily identify the presence of straightening with a putty. For obvious reasons, it will not be attracted in this place.
Let’s take a look inside
Many people believe that if you twist the mileage, then the car can be sold almost as new, but if you take into account some details, then you cannot be fooled.
- Inspect for oil leaks and other fluids
- Look at the pipe connections and note if there is any clogged dirt
- Mark coolant hoses for leaks
If there are streaks, dirt, and rust with a white coating at the joints, this engine has gone through a lot.
Look in the exhaust pipe. Is there a heavy soot and white coating? This motor has already worked well!
Pay attention to the electrics and the battery, so as not to find unpleasant surprises already in the first week of operation.
And what about the salon?
It should be neat with all the important accessories: handles, buttons, adjustment levers, the integrity of the seat upholstery and interior. Be sure to check the seat belts. If the year on their fabric tag does not coincide with the release date of the car, then you should think about why the previous owner changed them.
