    Best engines for muscle cars

Many muscle cars fans believe that it is their “favorites” that would be worthy of attention in the TOP best engines for muscle cars, but this is far from the case. We offer a unique engines list that has not found any special competitors in the entire history of the automotive industry.

    Ferrari F136L

When the brand creators insisted that the buyers of his cars only pay for the engine, and it gives them everything else for free. It is worth noting that many doubt the authenticity of this phrase, but it is difficult to argue with the obvious quality of the V-shaped eight in the F136L, which was inherent not only in Ferrari, but also in several Maseratti modifications. However, its most powerful variation was the engine in the car with the “prancing stallion” 458 Speciale, where the 4.5 liter aspirated engine accelerated to 605 hp. In other words, each volume liter gave more than 130 “horses”.

    Nissan RB26DETT

Let’s talk now about 6-cylinder cars, which delighted with their “freshness” from the second half of the 80s to the beginning of the 2000s. The double turbocharging of the inline “six” formally did not allow to exceed 280 hp, but, in fact, it could be “overheated” to 400 hp by raising the boost pressure or flashing the ECU. By the way, these tricks were used by many reckless drivers – the best muscle car engines owners.

    Alfa Romeo Busso V6

The designer, who created the “heart” of this machine in the distant 70s, gave the name to his brainchild (J. Busso). Then, in a business sedan in 1979, the V-shaped “six”, which had only 2.5 liters of volume, did not give more than 156 hp. However, the emergence of the innovative Bosch L-Jetronic fuel supply technology and the expansion of the volume to 3 liters have already rewarded a car with a capacity of 185 hp.

    Mitsubishi 4G63T

This engine version first pleased in the late 80s on the Galant VR-4 sedan, later it will appear on the Eclipse, but in the early 90s it will be assigned to Lancer Evolution. The motor behaves well both on regular tracks and on high-speed tracks, so the factory team driver managed to win the competition with him for more than 4 years, because from the formal 195 hp.could easily squeeze out 220 hp.

    BMW S70/2

The all-aluminum motor with a number of original parts, forged piston, multi-throttle start with a two-row set of nozzles and a dry lubrication system has become a legend of its time (almost 300 hp). The creators ingeniously got out of the situation, covering the space around with the purest gold to prevent overheating of the engine compartment. Thus, each such engine had 16 g of precious metal.

    Mercedes Benz M275

It should be noted right away that several engine models can be found under this name. But we are talking about the V12 BiTurbo, which had 5.5 liters volume and appeared in three lines of the brand at the beginning of the 2000s. Almost half a thousand “horses” under the hood had such cars, and the AMG version even squeezed out 612 hp. (volume 6.0). The latter could also boast several versions of Gelentvagen and Maybach.
